Moroccan-Dutch meeting on teaching Arabic to Moroccans living abroad
The Moroccan Delegate Minister to Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and responsible for Moroccans residing abroad, Nouzha Chekrouni, held on Wednesday talks with the Dutch Minister of Culture, Education and Sciences, Maria Van Der Hoeven, who is currently visiting Morocco, on teaching Arabic and Moroccan culture to Moroccans living abroad.
Chekrouni affirmed that her meeting with the Dutch minister was an opportunity to discuss ways to teach Arabic and Moroccan culture to children of Moroccans residing abroad, especially after the Dutch government's support for the Institute of Languages and Eastern Civilisations, reported MAP news agency.
“We have suggested using public education locations for Arabic courses and following the Dutch-Turkish experience in the field,” she said.
The Moroccan official also asked the Dutch minister to support the inauguration of a cultural centre, which will be “an important landmark for the preservation of the identity of Moroccans living abroad.”
