Une bonne nouvelle pour quiconque veut se specialiser en Tachelhit: l'Univeristé de Leyde (Hollande) commence septembre prochain des cours de linguistiques Tachelhit:

We are happy to announce that from 1-9-2006 onward the Faculty of Arts of Leiden University will offer a one-year special track in Berber (Amazigh) Languages and Linguistics in the framework of the one-year MA African Linguistics.

Beneath you find a short description of the programme:
First term:
Introduction to Berber linguistics (10 ECTS)
Introduction to Berber studies (5 ECTS)
First Berber language (*) (5 ECTS)
Second Berber language (*) or Linguistic Fieldwork (5 ECTS)
Language, Culture and Cognition (5 ECTS)

Second term:
Samples of Linguistic Structures of African Languages (10 ECTS)
Master's Thesis (20 ECTS)

(*) The Berber languages for which introductory courses are offered are: Tashelhiyt (Morocco, Prof. H.J. Stroomer), Tarifiyt (Morocco, Dr. M. Kossmann), and Tuareg (Dr. M. Kossmann). Courses for other variants of Berber may also be organised.

In principle, the language of instruction is English. The courses that are specific to this track can, if necessary, be given in French. This option is not available for courses aimed at a wider public (Language, Culture, and Cognition; Samples of Linguistic Structures). The thesis may be written in English or in French.

Admission requirement
In principle, students with a BA in linguistics or with a BA in a specific language area (with reasonable knowledge of linguistics) are admitted without further requirements. Students with a different background will be assessed individually and may be asked to do an additional exam.

Masters en linguistique berbère à Leiden (Pays-Bas)

Nous sommes très heureux de pouvoir vous annoncer que, à partir du premier septembre 2006, il est possible de suivre une spécialisation Masters d'une année en "langues et linguistique berbères (amazighes)" à la Faculté des Lettres de l'Université de Leiden (Pays-Bas). Cette spécialisation s'insert dans le Masters en linguistique africaine.

Ci-dessous, vous trouverez une brève description du programme :

Premier semestre:

Introduction à la linguistique berbère (10 ECTS)
Introduction aux études berbères (5 ECTS)
Première langue berbère (*) (5 ECTS)
Deuxième langue berbère (*) ou Linguistic Fieldwork (5 ECTS)
Language, Culture et Cognition (5 ECTS)

Deuxième semestre:

Samples of Linguistic Structures of African Languages (10 ECTS)
Thèse de Masters (20 ECTS)

(*) Les langues pour lesquelles des cours d'introduction sont offerts sont le tachelhiyt (Maroc, Prof. Stroomer), le tarifiyt (Maroc, Dr. Kossmann) et le touareg (Dr. Kossmann). Il est possible que des cours soient organisés sur d'autres variantes du berbère.

Admission au programme

En principe, les étudiants avec un Bachelor (licence) en linguistique, ainsi que les étudiants en langues (pourvu qu’ils aient une connaissance raisonnable de la méthode linguistique) seront admis automatiquement. Les étudiants avec une autre formation seront évalués de façon indviduelle. Il est possible qu’ils devront faire un examen pour être admis.

Langue d’instruction

La langue d'instruction est en principe l'anglais. Les cours qui sont spécifiques à cette spécialisation peuvent être offerts en français (s’il y en a besoin). Cette option n'existe pas pour les cours de porteur plus large (Language, Culture, and Cognition; Samples of Linguistic Structures). La thèse de Masters peut être écrite en anglais ou en français.
